Mark Elsesser
Mark Elsesser, Ph.D., is director of Public Affairs at APS.
Mark Elsesser is the director of Public Affairs for the American Physical Society, overseeing the Society's government affairs and public engagement efforts. In his role, Mark guides the Government Affairs and Public Engagement teams in their efforts to enable APS members to effectively engage with both policymakers and the general public to advance APS's mission. Prior to joining APS, Mark served as Science and Technology Policy Fellow, supported by the California Council on Science and Technology, in the office of Assemblymember Ken Cooley of the California State Legislature. Mark is a chemical engineer by training, graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and receiving his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
