Wiki Scientist Edit-a-thons

Come together with physics experts to edit Wikipedia and improve your science communication skills.

Join APS for our annual Wikipedia edit-a-thon or contact the APS Public Engagement team to host your own.

Edit-a-thons bring together physics organizations to create and improve Wikipedia pages. These events provide an excellent entry to Wikipedia editing. Many of our past edit-a-thons highlighted the accomplishments of women and other underrepresented groups in physics. APS has partnered with Black in Physics, several Physical Review journals, the Niels Bohr Library and Archives and other organizations to host edit-a-thons.

An edit-a-thon typically:

  • Last about three hours
  • Introduces the event theme
  • Provides a short training on Wikipedia editing
  • Gives you the opportunity to write Wikipedia articles
  • Concludes with a reflection on science communication skills learned
