Citation:

"For outstanding work on studying autoresonant excitation of accelerator beams and its application in beam-based diagnostics, and for developing and applying machine-learning-based methods in storage ring design and online optimizations."

Background:

Minghao Song received his bachelor’s degree from Chongqing University in 2014. He received his Master’s degree from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017. He completed his doctoral degree in physics at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2022. He conducted his Ph.D. thesis work at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, where he studied advanced methods, including machine learning-based algorithms and autoresonant excitation of beam nonlinear motion, for storage ring nonlinear beam dynamics design and implementation. After Ph.D. graduation, he started his Postdoctoral Research Associate at NSLS-II in Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he presently works on designing NSLS-II upgrade lattice and developing machine learning tools for accelerator fault identification and automated tuning. Thesis advisors: Prof. Linda Spentzouris (IIT) and Dr. Xiaobiao Huang (SLAC).
