- Check your abstract length.
- Check the spelling of everyone's name.
- Make edits before starting the process.
Abstract Submission Checklist
To speed up the submission process and avoid errors, have this information ready:
- Title of your abstract
- Number and order of authors and collaborators
- Length of your abstract
- Draft of the abstract body
- Whether your abstract requires LaTeX format or the APS Word (RTF) template.
- Type (Sorting) Category
Joining APS
- You must be a member of APS to submit an abstract to an APS meeting.
- Join APS.
- Your Membership ID number will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
- To submit an abstract before receiving your member number, enter "membership pending" in the abstract special instructions field.
- Membership will be verified after submission.
- NOTE: Plan ahead! The APS Membership Department will not issue Membership ID numbers during the week of abstract deadlines.
Submitting Your Abstract
Abstract InformationAPS reserves the right to reject or alter abstracts based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:
- Abstracts do not comply with style guidelines, including excessive length (contributed abstract body text is limited to approximately 1300 characters)
- Abstracts contain inappropriate content
- Abstracts fall outside of the topical scope of the meeting
To speed up the submission process:
- Know the number and order of authors and collaborators
- Proofread your draft of the abstract body
- Note your Sorting Category or Focus Topic (if applicable)
- Choose whether you will use LaTeX format or Microsoft Word Submission (RTF) Template.
When to Use the RTF Template
New users should submit a test abstract to familiarize themselves with the process.
- Go to the Abstract Submission website.
- Click Start Abstract Submission.
- Check Test Meeting (IT05) at the bottom of the list.
- Follow the directions to create your test abstract.
Instructions on the Abstract Submission website explain the process.
- Go to the Abstract Submission website.
- Click Start Abstract Submission.
- Select the Meeting for which you want to submit an abstract.
- Check LaTeX format or Word Submission (RTF).
- Carefully follow instructions on each web page.
