51st Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics
June 1- June 5, 2020 • Portland, Oregon

Child Care Grants

Deadline to apply is May 1, 2020

Small grants of up to $500 are available to DAMOP participants who are bringing children to the DAMOP 2020 meeting who incur extra expenses in leaving them at home (e.g., extra daycare or babysitting services). Please fill out the online form to apply.

Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event that the requests for grants exceed the funding available, preference will be given to applicants in the early stages of their careers, and those who have not received a child-care grant in the previous year. Grant recipients will be notified prior to the conference.

To receive reimbursement, child-care grant recipients must submit an APS travel expense form along with original receipts by the deadline. Eligible costs include babysitters (onsite at the conference location or at home) and airfare/hotel for a caregiver to accompany the child to the conference location. Meals, toys, onsite transportation and tickets to museums or other attractions are not eligible for reimbursement. Grant recipients are solely responsible for their choice of child care provider.

Reimbursement requirements:

  1. DAMOP registration confirmation
  2. Receipts of eligible expenses
  3. Filled-out APS travel expense form

Please email these items to Lincoln Carr, lcarr@mines.edu, DAMOP secretary/treasurer, for approval before sending to APS for reimbursement.

Nominees and award and office holders are expected to meet standards of professional conduct and integrity as described in the APS Ethics Guidelines. Violations of these standards may disqualify people from consideration or lead to revocation of honors or removal from office.
