Please describe why someone applying to graduate school who is interested in a female-friendly department should choose your department.
Our department provides an excellent environment to pursue M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics or Multidisciplinary Science. Our diverse faculty, assisted by our friendly and knowledgeable administrative staff, work hard every day to see our graduate students succeed. We take pride in the academic and professional accomplishments of our students and alumni.
The department performs cutting edge research in astronomy, dark matter, particle & fields, condensed matter and optics employing a wide-range of state-of-the-art experimental, theoretical and computational research methods. Our graduates pursue satisfying careers in academia, industrial research & development, sales, consulting and the public sector.
Our department stands out among Physics departments in the U.S. because of its large number of women physics faculty. Consequently, our students meet a broad range of role models.
