Mark Elsesser

Mark Elsesser photoMark Elsesser is the Associate Director of Government Affairs for the American Physical Society and has worked at the Society for seven years. In his role, he works closely with APS's Chief External Affairs Officer to develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance APS's policy priorities — managing the office's day-to-day activities and representing APS on Capitol Hill and with the executive branch. Prior to joining APS, Mark served as Science and Technology Policy Fellow, supported by the California Council on Science and Technology, in the office of Assemblymember Ken Cooley of the California State Legislature. Mark is a chemical engineer by training, graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and receiving his PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
