Benjamin Rapoport graduated from Hunter College High School in New York City and he will begin his second year at Harvard University in the fall of 2000.
In 1999, Benjamin was a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, won second place in biochemistry at the International Science and Engineering Fair, and was a semifinalist in the American Physics Olympiad. He was also a grand prize winner in the USA Mathematical Talent Search, and was named a National Merit Scholar. Benjamin was captain of the varsity fencing team at his high school, and rowed on the freshman lightweight crew team during his first year at Harvard.
Benjamin developed an interest in physics in elementary school by disassembling and reconstructing small electronic devices, as well as by visiting museums and reading popular science magazines. At present, he is most interested in mathematical physics, particularly the behavior of dynamical systems.
Benjamin also enjoys running, reading novels, and listening to classical music.
