Ian Prado
The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa

I was born in Quito, Ecuador and was raised in my father’s house until I was one year old. My parents decided to move back to my mother’s home state. My Father is Ecuadorian and my mother is Caucasian American and I have been raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I became interested in physics my sophomore year of high school. I am majoring in mathematics and physics at the University of Alabama. I am a part of a liberal arts honor’s program called the Blount Undergraduate Initiative. My current goal in physics is to obtain a master’s in nuclear physics/engineering. I want to help develop different kinds of molten salt reactors, but in particular liquid fluoride thorium reactors. I want to use physics to help develop new nuclear technologies that are safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.
