Stephanie Lona
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

My name is Stephanie Lona and I am a sophomore studying physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I went into physics because I loved it in high school. I was fascinated by the way things worked and by the universe. When I started applying for college I knew there was nothing else I would rather do than physics. After finishing my first year at Illinois I know I had made the right decision to major in physics. I have met so many great people through the physics department at the University of Illinois, and have gotten very involved in physics and engineering. I still am unsure what kind of physics I will be focusing on, but I will be involved in high energy research next year. I am excited to see where physics takes me. I am honored and thankful to have been given this award for a second year.
