Prize Recipient

Jonathon Yuly
Princeton University

Citation:

"For showing that a universal free energy landscape underpins near-reversible electron bifurcation reactions and assures their high efficiency for transducing energy without short-circuiting, thus addressing a central puzzle in molecular bioenergetics that had persisted for over 50 years."

Background:

Jonathon Yuly is currently a Lewis-Sigler Scholar at the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University. He received his undergraduate degree from Houghton University in physics and mathematics and was a 2015 American Association of Physicists in Medicine undergraduate summer fellow. After graduating, Jonathon received his PhD in physics at Duke University under David Beratan, studying energy transduction reactions in biology, and developing and teaching courses on biophysical chemistry and computational chemistry.
