Citation:

"For significant advancement in the control, characterization, and understanding of polymer nanoscale-structure and energetics."

Background:

Thomas H. Epps, III received his B.S. in chemical engineering from MIT, his M.S. in chemical engineering from MIT as part of the MIT Practice School, and his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota. In 2006, he commenced his independent career at the University of Delaware, where he is currently the Thomas & Kipp Gutshall Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, with a joint appointment in Materials Science and Engineering. Epps' research focuses on the nanoscale assembly of polymers in bulk, thin film, and solution environments. Topics of interest include synthetic manipulations of block polymer interfaces, biobased polymers, ion-conducting polymers, ordering in nanostructured thin films, and stability and responsiveness of solution-assembly macromolecular amphiphiles. His honors include the PECASE Award, the NSF CA6REER Award, the AFOSR Young Investigator Award, the Sigma Xi Young Investigator Award, the Owens-Corning (AIChE) Award, and the DuPont Young Professor Award.
