The false colored scanning electron micrograph shows a single ferromagnetic disk captured in between two hexagonal magnetic particles, developed by scientists at the Argonne National Laboratory. The microdisks have been demonstrated as a powerful tool for targeted attacks on cancer cells and they hold a great promise for many other applications in biomedicine.
