FGSA Committee for Minorities and Women in Physics

In 2004, the FGSA Committee for Minorities and Women in Physics (CMWP) was formed to insure that FGSA properly addresses concerns of minorities and women in physics graduate programs. If you are interesting in helping with this effort, please consider signing up for the committee mailing list by contacting the FGSA Chair or Secretary.

Current CMWP activities:
  1. We are writing a list of suggestions for graduate students to improve the climate for women in their departments. For example, there are tips for organizing a group for women in physics (or women in science, if there are not enough women physicists). This list will be posted on the FGSA website and shared with the APS Committee on the Status of Women in Physics; it could also be extended to include ways to improved the climate for other minorities in physics.
  2. We are compiling information and opportunities for minority and women physics graduate students to be posted within the FGSA website.
