February 2002: FGSA members attend APS Unit Convocation and report on their experiences.

January 2002: The first FGSA Newsletter is finished and sent out for publication.

2001

December 3, 2001: The results of the first FGSA election come out. The winners are: Chair-Elect: Karsten Heeger, Treasurer: Tom Tierney, Members-at-Large: Brian Utter and Kelly Korreck. The results will be included in the first FGSA newsletter.

November 15, 2001: The FGSA webpage is moved to the new site and is now hosted at APS. The website was initially hosted by Chaogic Systems.

October 24, 2001: FGSA announced to be organizing special sessions of interest to graduate students at the upcoming 2002 APS March and April meetings.

October, 2001: APS News reported the July Executive Committee meeting of Forum on Graduate student Affairs and a photo of FGSA founding executive committee members is posted on the cover page.

October 10, 2001: Forum on Graduate Student Affairs Ballot is sent out by email. FGSA will elect a Chair-Elect, Treasurer and two Members-at-Large for the Executive Committee. The Treasurer and Members-at-Large will serve on the Executive Committee for two years. The Chair-Elect becomes Chair next year, and Past-Chair a year after that, for a total three year term. The Executive Committee has 4 Members-at-Large.

September 28, 2001: The statements of candidates for FGSA 2001 election are collected and are ready to be posted on the web.

September 12, 2001: The minutes of the first FGSA executive committee meeting is finished and posted on the FGSA website.

August 16, 2001: FGSA decides to move its website and host the forum website at APS. The website is currently hosted by Chaogic Systems.

August 6, 2001: FGSA calls for Nominations for Officers, FGSA 2001 election is started.

July 20, 2001: The FGSA Executive Committee sends a welcome letter to the members of the new APS Forum on Graduate Student Affairs.

July 14-16, 2001: The first FGSA Executive Committee Meeting is held at the American Center for Physics.

July, 2001: APS News July 2001 issue reported the formation of FGSA.

June 8, 2001: The FGSA website is linked to the APS Membership and Units pages.

May 24, 2001: The executive committee of FGSA is formed.

May 18, 2001: Dr. Judy Franz praised the graduate student task force on FGSA. The task is finished.

April 27, 2001: Susan Mahan Niebur, Jennifer Rittenhouse West, and Hsuan-Yeh Chang presented and defended the bylaws of FGSA at APS council meeting. The new forum is approved along with the bylaws.

April 17, 2001: Bylaws of the APS Forum on Graduate Student Affairs (FGSA) are finalized.

March 12-16, 2001: APS march meeting. Dr. Judy Franz and Xin Chen made an anouncement about the task force and the forming new forum in graduate student reception.

March 12, 2001: Thanks to the support of graduate student members, the signatures for the new forum reached the 200 goal.

March 11, 2001: A second open letter is sent out to APS graduate student members.

February 6, 2001: The new forum received about 100 signatures. The number is still increasing.

February 5, 2001: The open letter is sent out to APS graduate student members.

January 29, 2001: An open letter to all graduate student members is composed. This letter is to inform all the APS graduate studnet members about the new forum and get the necessary 200 signatures from them. It is going to be sent out in February 1st, 2001.

2000

November 7, 2000: A new voting area is added.

November 5, 2000: The name of this forum is determined as the "FORUM ON GRADUATE STUDENT AFFAIRS".

October 30, 2000: The second draft of the Forum Bylaws is proposed by Ilon Joseph.

October 25, 2000: The "Interactive" Bulletin Board is completed and tested working fine.

October 23, 2000: Minor Modification of the webpage for the APS Graduate Student Task Force.

October 20, 2000: The first testing webpage for the APS Graduate Student Task Force is established. The first draft of the Forum Bylaws is proposed by David Kulp.
