Information on the Cotrell Scholars Program, designed to help third-
year tenure-track faculty at Ph.D. institutions fulfill their commitments
to both teaching and research, is now available from the Research Corporation.
The $50,000 grants must be used to fund research projects that involve
undergraduate students in scientific investigation. Applicants for this
year's competition must have accepted their tenure-track appointments

A new internet newsgroup, hepnet.outreach, has been established as a
forum for discussion of issues related to education and public outreach
in high energy physics. The hepnet.outreach newsgroup is sponsored by
the Public Outreach and Education Team (POET) of the American Physical
Society Division of Particles and Fields Working Group on Structural
Issues in United States High Energy Physics Program. If your site does
not currently receive this newsgroup, ask your system administrator to
request a news feed from the HEPnet news administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The American Astronomical Society Education Working Group issues an electronic
newsletter every 2-3 weeks. The editor, Steve Shawl, may be reached at

and reprints some materials
from the AIP/PEN (Physics Education Newsletter).
The American Educational Research Association invites those interested
in a variety of topics related to graduate study in American higher education
at both the Master's and the Doctoral level. The Graduate Studies List
(GSL) is open to students, faculty, administrators and researchers. To
