Note: The first author is expected to present the paper. If multiple abstracts with the same first author are submitted, one paper will be assigned to the regular session and all others to the Supplemental Poster Session on Friday morning. Submission of an abstract is taken as a representation by the submitter that he/she expects the first author to attend the conference. Presentation of multiple papers, whether oral or poster, by a single person is not permitted except that the presenter of a review, invited, or tutorial talk, an education and outreach paper, or a mini-conference paper is allowed one additional abstract submission in the regular meeting program.
APS members can submit abstracts online at the Abstract Submission web page.
Once you are at the abstract submission site and have selected the 56th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics, simply follow the instructions. The online submission process will guide you step by step. You will have a choice of submitting your abstract in LaTeX format or Rich Text Format (MS Word).
Contributed abstracts are limited to 1300 characters for the abstract text (including any blank spaces). Having numerous authors as well as overly long titles, affiliations, and footnotes can push the abstract over the limit despite being within the limit for the abstract text itself, so always check the abstract by using the Preview Abstract Layout link during the submission process. The limit for invited abstracts is 2000 characters.
Knowing the number of authors and having a rough draft of the abstract body will speed up submission. DPP recommends new users select the Test Meeting and complete all steps in order to familiarize themselves with the process.

Note: Individuals wishing to join APS to submit an abstract should do so online. New member ID numbers are emailed in the confirmation message within two business days of becoming a member. If you need to submit an abstract prior to receiving your member ID number, please enter “membership pending” in the abstract special instructions field. Membership will be verified after submission.
Poster Session boards are freestanding, with a display area measuring four (4) feet high by eight (8) feet wide. Push-pins are provided.
Undergraduate or High School Students Doing Research
There will be a special poster session entitled “Undergraduate/High School Research” at the annual meeting on Tuesday, October 28. For the twelfth year, DPP will present an outstanding poster award to undergraduate students. This session provides an opportunity for students to present results from summer and thesis research, as well as meet other plasma physicists, such as junior and senior researchers, and students.
Undergraduate or high school students should submit their abstracts as contributed posters following the abstract submission procedure as outlined above. In order to present in the Tuesday session please select from the 14.0 Sorting Categories.

DPP will waive the registration fee for undergraduate or high school student presenters. Indicate “undergrad” or “high school student” on the Registration Form and fax to the number on the form.
Abstracts received after Friday, July 11, and before September 12, will be assigned to the Postdeadline Poster Session on Friday morning, October 31. After September 12, an author wishing to present a postdeadline abstract must bring a one-page copy of the abstract to the annual meeting and a poster board will be assigned for presentation in the Friday morning Postdeadline Poster Session.
