Benefits of DPOLY Membership
Membership in the Division of Polymer Physics of the American Physical Society provides the opportunity to support in a direct, personal way the continued existence and growth of the world's premier forum for research in polymer physics. DPOLY membership also provides the following practical benefits:
- Advance notice (mailed and posted on the Division Homepage) in January of programs of invited and contributed papers for the DPOLY March meeting, the meeting to attend to keep abreast of the field.
- Timely announcements of other divisional functions and of news of the field through the medium of periodic newsletters and a World Wide Web Homepage from the Divisional Secretary-Treasurer.
- The opportunity to be considered for nomination to APS Fellowship through the agency of the Fellowship Committee of the Division.
- The opportunity to serve the Division and the Society through elective offices and appointed committees of the Division.
The APS often scrutinizes its criteria (e.g. number of members) for units to retain their division status. Loss of divisional status within APS would mean loss of representation on the Council of the Society and could also result in an intangible, but significant, blow to acceptance and respect for the field of polymers within the physics community. For both veteran polymer scientists and recent graduates, increasing DPOLY membership is the key to perserving this valuable professional asset.
The DPOLY membership fee is only $8 per year for APS members. Graduate students can join both DPOLY and the APS at no cost during the first year.
