Kari Dalnoki-Veress

Background:

Kari Dalnoki-Veress is an experimental physicist interested in soft materials. He received his undergraduate degree (1992) and Ph.D. (1998) at the University of Guelph under the supervision of John Dutcher. Dalnoki-Veress then worked with Richard Jones and James Forrest as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Sheffield in England. In 2001, he moved back to Canada to join the Department of Physics & Astronomy at McMaster University in Ontario.

Dalnoki-Veress research group investigates the physical properties of soft materials at interfaces with a focus on polymeric and biological systems. Current research topics of the group include polymer crystallisation, cell adhesion, measurement of micro-mechanical properties, friction, self-assembly, interfacial properties, and laser lithography. The primary, long term goal is to obtain a more fundamental understanding of the effects of confinement, surfaces, and interfaces in soft material systems.

Dalnoki-Veress currently serves as an editor for the European Physical Journal E and is a member of the American Physical Society, Canadian Association of Physicists, and the American Chemical Society.
