"Numerical Simulations of the Stratified Oceanic Bottom Boundary Layer."

John R. Taylor received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics (Honors) from Santa Clara University in 2001. He spent the following year as a UCAR visiting scientist at the Navy's Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center before starting graduate school in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, San Diego in 2002. During graduate school he was awarded a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. He received an M.S. in 2004 and his Ph.D. in 2008. His thesis work on stratified bottom boundary layers was advised by Prof. Sutanu Sarkar. John is currently working with Prof. Raffaele Ferrari as an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT. His current research interests include turbulence in the ocean and atmosphere, internal wave dynamics, and physical-biological interactions.
