Opportunities in Biological Physics Workshop

The focus of the Division’s “Opportunities” session for 2010 is “Educational Challenges in Biological Physics”

However, the session has been changed from a pre-meeting workshop to an invited session on Tuesday, 16 March, 2:30 PM (DBP/FED-92977), jointly sponsored and organized by DBP and the Forum on Education.  The Division Business Meeting will follow this session.

Most of us in the field have some type of educational responsibilities: teaching formal classes at the university, teaching high school students, advising or training new employees.  Teaching is also becoming a more complex, difficult task in most situations.  The “simple physics” is often overwhelmed by the inexperienced minds and wide academic spectrum of those we teach.  Plan to attend this special session.  You may also want to consider the 1:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, 14 March APS Forum on Education Workshop, “Making it Good: A Workshop on Strategies for High-Quality, Effective Educational Materials and Efforts.”
