"Improved Measurement of Parity Nonconservation in Atomic Cesium and First Measurement of the Nuclear Anapole Moment.
Dr. Wood is a native of Wyoming and earned his BA at the University of Wyoming at Laramie. There he worked as an undergraduate on balloon-based measurements of the ozone hole in Antarctica . He also worked for a summer in a science undergraduate program at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. At SLAC, he worked on testing and calibration of a vertex chamber charged particle detector. Dr. Wood then went on to the University of Colorado/JILA for his Ph.D. where he worked on the cesium parity non-conservation measurement with Dr. Carl Wieman who was his thesis advisor. After graduating in 1997, Dr. Wood received a postdoctoral position from the NRC and is currently working at NIST-Boulder in the ion storage group. He is working on 1, 2, and 3 ion experiments (using Be+ ions) for quantum logic and quantum optics.
