In the latest in a series of workshops that goes back to 1996, about 65 new US faculty members in physics and astronomy convened at the American Center for Physics in College Park from November 7 to 10. Originated by the American Association of Physics Teachers, and co-sponsored by AAPT, APS and the American Astronomical Association with financial support from NSF, the workshop is now a semi-annual affair, taking place both in June and November. It is designed to help new faculty understand how to become more effective as educators and to support their quest to gain tenure.
