Professional Skills Development workshops are designed to provide women physicists with professional training in effective negotiation, communication and leadership skills, as well as a special opportunity for networking. The primary workshop goal is to produce more women leaders in physics and to help these women achieve their full potential in the top ranks of their profession. Workshops are usually hosted in conjunction with APS meetings.
For students, APS offers Communication and Negotiation Skills Seminars.
April 13, 2018 - APS April Meeting in Columbus, OH
Participants are responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements and may receive reimbursment for 1 night in the conference hotel. Please consult the APS Meetings website for information about hotels near the meeting site, many of which will offer special rates.
Because the workshops are funded by the National Science Foundation, you must be affiliated with a US institution/facility to be eligible for funding consideration. Professional Skills Development Workshops at division meetings or elsewhere are subject to different arrangements.
Support for this program has been received from the National Science Foundation under Award No. PHY-1419913.
