Please describe why someone applying to graduate school who is interested in a female-friendly department should choose your department.

Kent State University has a very diverse student population which is reflected in the Physics Department. Ours is one of only ten physics departments in the United States where AIP reports that 25% or more of the PhD recipients during 1999-2003 were women. Of the 35 students admitted during and since the fall 2012 term, 11 are women. We continue to welcome and encourage women from around the world to apply to our department.

Has the institution had a Climate for Women in Physics Site Visit or Gender Equity Conversation?
