Students may apply for up to two years extension to their time of completion.

Is there family health insurance for graduate students? If so, is it included in the stipend?

Insurance is available. It is not included in base GAs/TAs, but research groups can provide additional support to cover premiums for RAs.

Please describe why someone applying to graduate school who is interested in a female-friendly department should choose your department.

The Physics program has traditionally add a relatively high proportion of female faculty (currently 25%, and as high as 33% a few years ago), and throughout our College of Engineering and Science there are active efforts to promote graduate study for women in engineering and science. We have a college Office for Women in Science and Engineering (OWISE - see http://www.latech.edu/coes/owise for details) that promotes professional development and leadership opportunities for both female faculty and graduate students.

Has the institution had a Climate for Women in Physics Site Visit or Gender Equity Conversation?
