Please describe why someone applying to graduate school who is interested in a female-friendly department should choose your department.

Our department is small (13 tenure lines) and student-focused. We have a strong tradition of teaching in the department, and students enjoy close working relationships with faculty members. We have an active Society of Physics Students group that includes both undergraduates and M.S. students. This group provides significant opportunities for interaction among students outside the classroom. We have provided formal and informal mentoring programs for female students.

Has the institution had a Climate for Women in Physics Site Visit or Gender Equity Conversation?
