Guidelines

Email | Print

To post a message to WIPHYS send an email to wiphys@aps.org. The message will be read by the moderator and then posted to the list.

The Committee on the Status of Women in Physics welcomes your contributions to this list. However, like all Internet lists, there are a few guidelines which must be observed. Postings which stray outside these guidelines will be returned to the sender.

WIPHYS is a moderated list, and we reserve the right to delete posts which are of an inflammatory or defamatory nature, obviously off-topic or directed to one person only. Subscribers may not post anonymously to the WIPHYS list. You will be notified if a post you have written has been rejected for mailing to the list. Questions on this policy can be directed to the moderator.WIPHYS is a forum for the exchange of ideas and views by and about women in physics. While the recounting of personal experiences may occasionally be useful to illustrate more general points regarding women in physics and related fields, such accounts should be limited to cases whose specific relevance to the topic under discussion is made clear. Extended recitals of abuses suffered, without a specific conclusion to be drawn that is pertinant to a topic of discussion that is within WIPHYS' purview, do not advance WIPHYS' mission and will not be posted.

Quoting
Please keep quoting of other messages to a minimum. Since everyone receives the same posts to the list as you do, it only takes a quick reminder of previous comments to keep the conversation going. Please delete ALL unnecessary lines of the message you are following up. Please do not quote .signatures or headers, unless they are germane to the point you are making.

Privacy
While the Committee on the Status of Women in Physics encourages open discussions of issues of interest to women in physics on the WIPHYS list, we remind subscribers that postings to this list are NOT private. There are no restrictions on subscription to WIPHYS; therefore, ANYONE can subscribe to WIPHYS and read messages posted, or can request and read WIPHYS archives.

Note
the opinions expressed in messages posted on the Women in Physics list (WIPHYS) are the subscribers' own, and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Committee on the Status of Women in Physics or the American Physical Society.

If you have any questions, please contact WIPHYS Moderator Sue Otwell at women@aps.org
