- When possible, make sure the committee itself is diverse.
- Identify two or three key members who will serve as advocates for minorities.
- Meet with the committee at the beginning of the process to reiterate the importance of inclusion, the advisory role of the committee and the need for confidentiality.
- Determine how committee members will communicate with each other, the campus community and with candidates.
