The 2016 APS National Mentoring Community Conference was held on October 21 - 23 at the University of Houston. Highlighted features included an undergraduate research poster session, an REU/Graduate Program fair, tours of the UH physics research labs, and an optional tour of the NASA Space Center in Houston.
Undergraduate students presented their research during the NMC Conference undergraduate research poster session. Each poster was judged by faculty and two posters were selected for top prizes.
1st Place: Madelyn Leembruggen, University of Cincinnati, Collapse of Axion Stars
2nd Place: Brianna Galgano, Vanderbilt University, Determination of M and K dwarf Effective Temperature, Radius, Mass and Metallicity Using a Data-driven Spectral Model by the Cannon
