Alexander Robel

Background:

Alex was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He has enjoyed studying science and mathematics from an early age and was encouraged by his mother, Luisa, and father, Stefan. In high school, Alex elected to attend Maritime and Science Technology Academy (MAST Academy) on Virginia Key in order to explore his specific interests. Since then he has interned at the NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory and the University of Miami Rosenstial School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. He is first author on a hurricane research paper currently under peer-revision for publication. Alex will attend Duke University in the fall, where he will major in Physics and Earth and Ocean Sciences and pursue a certificate in Latin American Studies.
