Background:

My name is Andres Rios. I was born in Boulder, Colorado, and raised in Medellin, Colombia. Since I was a kid I have always been fascinated by how things work, and have always liked to open things up to learn about their inner working. I grew up watching science TV shows where they explained exotic physical phenomena like black holes and wormholes. I found it extremely interesting that no one fully understands some of those things yet, but I thought it would be impossible for me to do it. When I started studying Physics in high school I loved the way I could describe physical systems mathematically. It opened the possibility of understanding everything that surrounds me. I also started participating in all sorts of science Olympiads, and ended up representing Colombia at the International Physics Olympiad. I then decided to dedicate my life to answer those questions that haven’t been answered. I will try to make progress toward the long sought Theory of Everything. I am currently majoring in Physics and Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and doing research with the CMS collaboration at CERN.
