Background:

I live in an agricultural community near Monte Vista, Colorado. Monte Vista is snuggled in the beautiful San Luis Valley. The San Luis Valley is a high altitude desert enclosed by the volcanic San Juan Mountains to the west and north and by the glaciated Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east. Some of these mountains are over 14,000 feet in elevation, and our mountains and valley provide some of nature's most amazing views. I plan to attend Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, which is about a half hour north of Little Rock. Hendrix was the most appealing option to me largely because of its impressive science department. Physics, of course, is my intended major. I have always been fascinated by the workings of the universe, and by studying Physics I hope to better understand the laws, which govern it. My goal is to apply my knowledge, skills, and labor to help humankind achieve a clearer understanding of our surroundings on earth and beyond.
