Steven Reyes

Background:

My name is Steven Reyes, and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago. My father and mother are immigrants from Mexico and Guatemala, respectively, who came to live in Chicago. I am the first generation of my family to have been raised here in the United States. My parents worked diligently to make ends meet and have been the guiding hand that has helped me to aspire to and enroll in a top tier university. I am currently pursuing a major in Physics as a first-year undergraduate student and considering a minor in Philosophy. Much of what drives me to the love of Physics is a drive that many of us share, that is, a strong desire for knowledge and wisdom about who we are and how the world works. In particular, I have taken an interest to the study of particle physics and the study of subatomic physics. In this study, I hope to spend my life as a research scientist looking to discover the mysteries of the universe. I am very grateful to APS for assisting me in coming one step closer to achieving my goal.
