Hello! My name is Matt McDonell, and Im from Saint Cloud, Minnesota. I was born in California but moved to Minnesota at the age of four, so Ive known the cold for a long time. Math and science have always captivated me, but it was not until my junior year at St. Cloud Apollo High School that I learned how rewarding specific branches of science could be. Of course, the one that caught my eye and my heart was Physics. Finally, all the years I spent learning various mathematical and analytical skills seemed worthwhile. The real life applications of Physics are endless, and transcend beyond simple occurrences- physics is everywhere and everything. After completing that AP course and receiving credit, I had a new goal keep in mind when considering my education, and that was to find a way to study physics at a high level.
This fall I will enter Rice University as a member of the Class of 2008. Houston is a very far from my home, but I think it will be worth it. Like the world of Physics, I do not know much about Texas, but I am ready to learn more about both. I think a kid from Minnesota with big eyes and big dreams will do fine.
