Gilbert Lee

Background:

My name is Gilbert R. Lee IV and I am from the state of Texas. Science has always been a subject of key interest to me. I first became interested in science by reading books on space travel when I was in elementary school. My original goal was to become an aeronautical engineer, however this changed during the second semester of my sophomore year in high school when I took both Chemistry and Physics. This experience led to my decision to become a research scientist. Of all the science classes I had taken up to that point, physics was the subject I enjoyed the most. My interest in physics continued to grow with each physics class I took and with participation in math and science competitions. My insight into the physics world has also been enriched by participating in a Research Experience for Undergraduates program at Hampton University where I conducted research in nuclear physics. I currently attend Yale University, where I am a junior physics major. After graduating from Yale, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in biophysics and to work as both a researcher and a professor.
