My name is Iara Cury, and I am currently a junior at Yale University. I have been living in the United States for 7 years, but I am originally from Brazil. I can speak both Portuguese and Spanish, and a little French, although contrary to popular belief, I cannot play soccer at all. I love all kinds of sciences, but I find Astrophysics especially amazing. My major is Astronomy and Physics, and I have done some research both in the fields of Active Galactic Nuclei, and Gravitational Lensing. Since I never had the opportunity to do much amateur astronomy, I plan to learn more about naked-eye stargazing in the near future. For me it is important to connect the scientific knowledge we have with an appreciation for the beauty of our universe, and better yet, to share it with children and adults. I hope my future studies and work will help build our understanding about Astronomy as well as make the the physical sciences more appealing to the general public.
