I am a student at Stanford University, majoring in Physics. I also plan on earning a concentration in Applied Physics and a minor in Environmental Engineering. Over the past two years, I have enjoyed learning the fundamentals of physics and becoming more familiar with its applications. I have done research in biophysics at the National Institutes of Health and am currently conducting research in Stanford's Department of Materials Science. There I have been exploring the light concentrating capabilities of metallic nanowires with possible applications to photodetectors, lasers, and nanostructured solar cells. Experiencing how physics concepts that I have learned in the classroom come into play in the laboratory has been exciting and fulfilling for me. I hope to be part of the scientific community working toward solutions to the pressing energy and environmental crisis.
