Background:

My Name is Xavier Hubbard Anderson and I am a physics major, Course 8, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I was born in Houston, Texas and lived there until middle school, when I moved to Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. My love for physics stems from my craving to understand the world around me. Physics has the ability to give the most fundamental explanations for the interactions that take place every day, every second. When I study physics I feel like I am studying what God has done. I feel like I am getting closer to him. That's why I love physics as much as I do. With my physics degree I hope to become a cosmologist, theoretical physicist, or particle physicist. I would also like to continue playing the violin and perhaps join a local symphony. I am very proud and honored to have received the APS Minority Scholarship.
