Sharon Torres

Background:

My name is Sharon Torres and I am a physics major in my junior year at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, with aspirations to attend graduate school for astrophysics. As part of an Army family, I have had the privilege to live across the United States and Japan. I attended three different high schools before graduating summa cum laude from Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, with a clear determination to pursue physics. My family, originally from Puerto Rico and now currently in Northern Virginia, consists of: my younger brother and sister, who are entering high school and college, respectively; my mother, who has a career in nuclear medicine; and my father, who retired from the Army two years ago and has a career in health physics.
