Ronald Alexander
Southern University of Baton Rouge

Background:

My name is Ronald Alexander, and I am from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am a Physics major at Southern University of Baton Rouge. Additionally, I am concentrating in the area of pre-medicine because I wish to attend medical school in order to become a research physician after I complete my education. I chose to major in science because I have always been good at math and science classes, and I think a strong background in science will be a good foundation for research medicine. The reasons I chose Physics over the other science majors are the rigorous curriculum, the strong emphasis on research, and my love of mathematics. A Physics degree is also very flexible, should I choose to no longer pursue my current career path, with a Physics degree I will be prepared to pursue a graduate degree in any STEM discipline. I am very honored to have been chosen as an APS Minority Scholarship recipient.
