Marissa grew up in Charleston, WV and graduated from George Washington High School. She enjoys writing, playing jazz and classical guitar, listening to the Beatles, dancing in sprinklers, and spending time with friends. Her inquisitive mind has led her to William and Mary to investigate a problem in matrix theory, MIT to research the suggested dark matter particle, and the Stanford Linear Accelerator to research weak gravitational lensing. In the next four years at Caltech, she hopes to pursue physics with an interest in astrophysics and cosmology. Marissa lives with her father, Jose Fernando Cevallos, mother, Kathleen Mimnagh, 17-year old brother, Joseph, and 5-year old sister, Maria.
