Background:

Margo A. Batie was  born and raised in Los Angeles, California in 1992. She graduated as her class's Salutatorian from Crenshaw High in 2010, and she now attends the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

During her freshman year, she participated in numerous clubs and organizations including the Black Student Union (BSU), the Black Women's Alliance (BWA), and the Women's Varsity Basketball team. During the summer she is serving as a Residential Assistant for a summer STEM program for minority high school students.
