Margo Batie

Margo Batie
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Background:

Margo Batie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California in 1992. She had attended View Park Prep, a small charter school, from 2nd to 10th grade, where she was section leader in both the Jazz Band and Concert Band, and the captain of her View Park's  Rugby Team. Even at a young age she was always interested in math and science, and by the time she was in high school she was two grades ahead in math. In hopes of a greater challenge not only academically but athletically, she then branched out to Crenshaw High, where she found her niche as a leader, a scholar, and an athlete. She participated in three varsity sports while at Crenshaw: basketball, softball, and volleyball, while also being the Student Body Treasurer, and a member of Crenshaw's School Site Council (SSC). Through all of this Margo managed to graduate as her class's Salutatorian from Crenshaw High, and is enrolled as a freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Techonology. She plans to spend her summer at a Summer Bridge program at M.I.T.
