My name is Drew Martinez and I will be a junior attending Stanford University. Originally, I am from Phoenix, AZ. I choose to study physics because it gives me insight into truth about the world around me. My particular area of interest is in biological physics and I am currently studying molecular motor proteins via optical and magnetic force clamps in the laboratory of Steven Block. I enjoy being involved in community science outreach programs such as Stanfords SuperStar program which teaches astronomy to kids ages 6-12. I also am a member of the Stanford varsity wrestling team and compete in the 197 pound weight class. On the side, I am also an active member of the international carnivorous plants society as well as a breeder of 10 different species of poison arrow frogs.
