My name is Jordan Melendez and I am from Elyria, Ohio. I currently attend Taylor University as a major in both Physics and Mathematics. Throughout my life, I have felt drawn towards the sciences. Before I entered college I had intended to become a mathematician until my high school physics teacher inspired me to study physics. Since then, I have become fascinated with the subject and its applications to the world around us. I enjoy solving puzzles and the challenges that come with studying theoretical physics. Currently, I am researching topics in quantum field theory and I plan to continue this research throughout my next year at Taylor. After I receive my degree, I want to go to graduate school in physics and continue my work in quantum field theory. I enjoy this topic because there is still so much that we have yet to learn about the basic particles that make up everything in the universe. With a Ph.D., I hope to become a professor and inspire others to study physics as well.
