The American Physics Society (APS) USA, and the Institute of Physics (IOP), UK, and the Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy and Environment (KITE), Ghana, partnered to examine the feasibility of biomass gasification and bio-oil technologies for rural areas of the ECOWAS region in Africa.
Background
The Biomass Technology for Sustainable Energy workshop was a follow-up project to the World Conference on Physics and Sustainable Development held in Durban, South Africa, in November 2005.
Ideas to Implementation
Speakers and workshop attendees were chosen for their expertise and involvement in energy, environment, and technology. The purpose of the workshop was to define strategies for the practical application of biomass gasification and bio-oil in rural areas.
