Biomass Technology for Sustainable Energy in Western Africa
February 13-14, 2008
The American Physical Society (APS), Institute of Physics (IOP), and the Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy and Environment (KITE) partnered to examine the feasibility of biomass gasification and bio-oil technologies for rural areas of the ECOWAS region in Africa.
This workshop was a follow-up project to the 2005 World Conference on Physics and Sustainable Development held in Durban, South Africa.
Speakers and workshop attendees were chosen for their expertise and involvement in energy, environment, and technology. The purpose of the workshop was to define strategies for the practical application of biomass gasification and bio-oil in rural areas. Attendees participated in small working groups to outline projects to be implemented in 2008-2009.
