Venkat Ganesan
University of Texas

Citation:

"For exceptional contributions to innovative computer simulation approaches and analysis of equilibrium and dynamic properties of multicomponent polymetric materials and nanocomposites."

Background:

Venkat Ganesan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and his Masters and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he spent 2 years as a postdoctoral research associate at the Materials Research Laboratories at Univ. of California at Santa Barbara before joining UT Austin as assistant professor in 2001. He was promoted to as associate professor in 2007. Venkat Ganesan’s research interests center around the development of models and simulation approaches for predicting the equilibrium and dynamical properties of multicomponent polymeric materials and polymer nanocomposites. More recently, his researches have started making forays into the structure-property relationships in polymers used for fuel cell and organic photovoltaic applications. Venkat is an active member of the American Physical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Society of Rheology. He is the author of over 50 technical publications and has presented over 45 invited talks and seminars. He was also a recipient of an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and a National Science Foundation's CAREER award.

Selection Committee:

Michael Rubinstein (Chair), Russell Composto, Glenn Fredrickson, Mark D. Ediger, Scott T. Milner
