Eric Hawker
Texas A & M

Citation:

"For his major contributions to the measurement and analysis of the Drell-Yan cross section that made possible the first determinations of ratio and difference of anti-up quark and anti-down quark densities in the nucleon as functions of the anti-quark momentum fraction. The results will help elucidate the roles played by perturbative and non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics in the structure of the nucleon.p"

Background:

Dr. Hawker graduated from the University of Illinois in 1991 with a B.S. in engineering physics and entered graduate school at Texas A & M University to study physics. In 1993 he joined Profs. Robert Tribble and Carl Gagliardi as part of the Texas A & M group collaborating on the Fermilab E866 (NuSea) experiment. He graduated from Texas A & M University with a Ph.D. in physics in 1998. Dr. Hawker currently holds a post-doctoral position with the Los Alamos National Laboratory and is a collaborator on the BooNE neutrino oscillation experiment at Fermilab.

Selection Committee:

Stuart Freedman (Chair), Bunny C. Clark, J J Kolata, Henry R. Weller, Michael Ramsey-Musolf
