Background:

Dr. Anastasiadis received his Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University in 1988. Upon completion of his Ph.D, Dr. Anastasiadis did postdoctoral research at the IBM Almaden Research Center. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Physics Department of the University of Crete and a Research Staff Member at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser at the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, Greece.

Dr. Anastasiadis' main interests are in the areas of polymer surfaces/interfaces and thin films, the structure and dynamics of polymer blends, copolymers, and anchored chains. He has done research on polymer/polymer interfacial tension, on the structure of thin films by neutron reflectometry, on the dynamics of block copolymers by dynamic light scattering and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy, and on the dynamics of end-anchored chains by evanescent-wave dynamic light scattering.

Dr. Anastasiadis is a member of the APS, the American Chemical Society, the Hellenic Engineering Society, the Hellenic Polymer Society and the Hellenic Society of Rheology. He has been awarded the Materials Research Society Graduate Student Award in 1987, and the Society of Plastics Engineers - Plastic Analysis Division Best Paper Award at the 1985 ANTEC.
